Overview
Singapore, one of the world’s great hubs of commerce, culture and innovation and long a meeting point for East and West, offers an ideal setting for discussions about business and design. Brainstorm Design 2019, held in parallel with Singapore’s annual Design Week, featured thinkers from diverse fields including industrial and product design, architecture and urban planning, user experience, AI and machine learning, mobility and transportation, fashion, financial services, and many more.
One of Brainstorm Design’s key differentiators is the convening of the three main "tribes" of leading designers and business people engaged with design. Our 2019 theme, Vision, Empathy, and Scale paid homage to these groups - from the independent studio designers celebrated for their creativity (Vision) to the design-thinkers making inroads in organizations large and small espousing human-centric design (Empathy) and designers working to deploy design via internet-enabled and digital technologies reaching millions of people (Scale). Certainly many designers and business experts strive to achieve all three.
